ADEME funding received under the Investments for the Future programme for the development of a new generation urban cable transport system   (2017/10/30 7:00 PM)

The MND Group, through its subsidiary LST, specialised in cable transport, today announces €4.4 million of funding received as part of the Investments for the Future programme operated by ADEME (the French environment and energy management agency) for the ‘Cabline 2.0' project to develop and implement a new generation urban cable transport system.

Under the Investments for the Future programme operated by ADEME and steered by the General Investment Commission (CGI), MND has been awarded €4.4 million of funding, including €1.7 million in the form of a grant, for its winning Cabline 2.0 project.

Cabline 2.0 involves the development of a new public cable transport system facilitating unobtrusive urban mobility. This innovative, energy-efficient and high-performance urban cable transport solution utilises cutting-edge technology developed by the MND Group. Cabline 2.0 will be capable of transporting up to 5,000 people per hour in each direction at speeds of up to 45kph. This fast, safe and silent mode of public transport, which integrates seamlessly into the urban environment, substantially reduces energy consumption and noise pollution, as well as installation, operation and maintenance costs.

The funding received will facilitate completion of the Cabline 2.0 technology, designed and manufactured in France at the Group's plants, through an initial installation that will serve as a showcase for its expertise.

This project will lead to the creation of almost 300 jobs in the medium term. Cabline 2.0 is the latest in LST's range of urban cable transport solutions, which already include new generation detachable gondola lifts, cable cars, funicular railways, etc. This mode of urban transport offers numerous benefits: mass transportation capacity comparable to the tram, low ground coverage saving space in public areas, the possibility to pass over obstacles, lower operating and investment costs, fast implementation, guaranteed reliability and safety, speeds and frequencies tailored to user needs, as well as a very low carbon footprint. This mode of transport is growing rapidly both in France and around the world, and French group MND is striving to develop innovative and state-of-the-art solutions to improve urban transport.

With this new project, the MND Group reinforces its reputation and expertise in the field of urban cable transport, in which it already had a presence through the renovation of the Montmartre funicular railway in Paris. Around ten other new generation projects are currently being researched both in France and worldwide.

Cabline 2.0, along with the rest of the cable transport range, was featured on the LST stand at the 26th National Public Transport Conference from 10-12 October 2017 in Marseilles. Organised by GIE Objectif Transport Public, an organisation set up by the French Transportation Authorities Association (GART) and the Public and Rail Transport Union (UTP), this event brings together all the players in the sector at this strategic meeting for the transport industry.
