MND announces new contracts   (2013/11/26 5:00 PM)

Strongly present at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics

via its products, MND enters North Caucasus market with the signing of

a new ski slope safety contract

On 25 November, the MND Group (FR0011584549, MND), which specializes in innovative mountain development and urban transport solutions, was admitted for trading on the C Compartment of NYSE Euronext's regulated market in Paris.

LST is installing a chairlift at the Rosa Khutor resort for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics
The MND Group's products will be well represented at the forthcoming Sochi Winter Olympics, scheduled for 7-23 February 2014, as three of the Group's subsidiaries are supplying the various host resorts.

Group subsidiaries TAS (preventive avalanche-release systems), MBS (ski slope safety) and LST Ropeway Systems (ski lifts) are supplying equipment to three of the four resorts in the Krasnaya Polyana valley, where the downhill ski events will be held.

  • TAS has been operating at the Alpika Service (bobsleigh races), Gornaya Karusel (ski-jump) and Rosa Khutor (Olympic Village and downhill ski events) resorts for a number of years, and has secured all the Olympic areas and access roads via a total of around 110 remote-controlled preventive avalanche-release systems.
  • In the field of safety, the downhill and Super-G slopes in the Rosa Khutor resort, which will host all the downhill ski events, will be fitted with over 6 km of ISF-approved safety systems supplied by MBS.
  • LST Ropeway Systems is currently completing the installation of a four-seater chairlift at Rosa Khutor. The chairlift is 1 kilometre long and will carry up to 1,200 people per hour. It includes all of LST's latest innovations in terms of comfort and user-friendliness.

These contracts, which mark the culmination of a long-established partnership with the organisers of the Olympic events, prove how rapidly the technical reputation of the Group's products and services is spreading throughout the globe.

Signing of a new ski slope safety contract for the first of five new resorts in the North Caucasus region
The Arkhyz resort is located in the Russian republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, nestling at an altitude of 1,450 metres in the mountainous region of the Bolshoi Zelenchuk valley. It is at the furthest stage of development among the five new resorts due to be built in the North Caucasus region by the year 2025 under the Causasus 2025 plan.

MND has a firm foothold in the local decision-making network and is supported by its presence at the various Sochi 2014 Olympic Games locations; the Group has just been awarded the first contract for the installation of safety netting and protection pads on all the commercial ski slopes at the Arkhyz resort, as well as ski slope marking and the supply of safety equipment. Over 8 km of slopes will be fitted with MBS equipment.

The delivery of all the equipment is currently underway, and a team will arrive on site in the next few days to supervise correct installation.

This contract, awarded on the basis of MBS's product reputation and its ability to meet tight manufacturing and delivery deadlines, is a golden opportunity for the Group to position itself for the next round of tenders. The Caucasus 2025 plan will require major investment, and the Group hopes to gain contracts worth over €100 million in revenue over the course of the project.
