Sainte Hélène du Lac (Savoie, France), 30 March 2017

On Thursday 30 March 2017, MND Group, an innovative developer of mountain and urban mobility solutions, announced the inauguration of the new 6-seater Envers detachable chairlift at La Plagne, at a ceremony attended by Dominique Marcel, Chairman and CEO of Compagnie des Alpes. Backed by this new chairlift, MND bolsters its long-standing partnership with the world's premier ski resort operator, which manages the La Plagne resort via its subsidiary SAP[1].

This latest generation chairlift was designed and manufactured in France by LST, MND's cable transport subsidiary. It comes with state-of-the art technology significantly enhancing performance and safety while cutting operating and maintenance costs.

Barely 12 months have passed since SAP ordered the chairlift, despite the licensing process taking longer than planned given the chairlift's range of innovative features. SAP and LST assembly crews jointly installed the lift. Now that the industrial and licensing phases are complete, time to market is estimated at approximately 7 months for the next chairlifts.

MND has invested over €4 million and hired over 25 R&D engineers and technicians in the Savoie region in order to develop this new innovative solution, which is protected by a number of patents. Thanks to this detachable technology, MND will be able to tap into a potential new market worth over €800 million. To date, MND sales teams have reviewed over 80 projects around the world. The MND Group can now also bid for global tenders that include detachable lifts, as demonstrated by MND's successful bid to develop the China-based Snowland resort.

As a global provider of mountain development solutions, MND's industrial expertise has enabled it to participate in many joint projects with Compagnie des Alpes over the past 10 years or so. The two groups are currently working together in the protection sector under a multi-year framework contract. The new 6-seater detachable Envers chairlift at La Plagne bolsters cooperation between the groups in the ski lift sector. Discussions are also underway regarding several projects in the Leisure and Snowmaking sectors in France and abroad.

During the inauguration of the Envers chairlift, Compagnie des Alpes CEO Dominique Marcel made the following comments: "We are delighted to inaugurate MND Group's first latest-generation chairlift at our La Plagne resort. This bears witness to our support for MND, which exemplifies the resurgence of French expertise to which we are strongly attached. Compagnie des Alpes has always aimed to provide encouragement and support to new partners seeking to enhance the market offering with innovative, high-performance solutions."

Xavier Gallot-Lavallée, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, made the following comments: "I would like to applaud the tremendous work done by the teams at LST, who have developed an innovative, robust, attractive and economical chairlift. We are particularly proud that the La Plagne resort, a Compagnie des Alpes subsidiary and the world's No. 1 ski resort, decided to place its trust in us for this initial chairlift. Thanks to this prestigious project, we now have a new outlet to showcase our products in Europe, which should help us attract new business for our range of latest-generation detachable lifts.”
