MND: LST completes the renovation of the blondin cableway for the EDF Portillon power plant in the Pyrenees   (2015/12/29 11:05 AM)

Sainte Hélène du Lac (Savoie, France), 22 December 2015 (after market close)

The MND Group (FR0011584549, MND), an innovative developer of mountain and urban mobility solutions, is listed on the Paris Euronext regulated market, compartment C.

MND today announces that its subsidiary LST, which specialises in the design and construction of ropeways, successfully renovated and commissioned the equipment ropeway (blondin) and inclined plane for the EDF Portillon hydroelectric power plant in Luchon (Department of Haute Garonne) in early December 2015. At an altitude of 2,600 m, this power plant is the highest in France. The renovation work for the two equipment ropeways took place over four years. This demanding project was carried out jointly by the ER2i Montagne teams, which are now part of LST, and Seirel Automatismes. LST specifically managed the design, structure definition and equipment stages, and monitored the construction and commissioning of the machines.

The blondin cableway, which is fitted with a lift system controlled from the departure or arrival platform, enables up to six tonnes of equipment to be carried up during every trip to the control gate at the head of the dam, and on the inclined plane located at high-altitude. The cableway is 1,480 m long, includes 13 pylons and covers a drop of 620 m.

Meanwhile, the inclined plane is 1,200 m in length and covers a drop of 720 m, including a record-breaking incline of 108%. It enables up to eight tonnes of equipment to be transported.

In the words of Roland Didier, MND's Deputy General Manager, “Our expertise in mountain ski lifts enables us to tackle new market segments and to provide cutting-edge cable transport solutions to industrial customers, such as this prestigious project for the highest dam in France, thereby broadening our core business as a mountain resort developer”.
